Sometimes we look at the front cover of a book and decide if we want to read it or not…..that’s not the best way to decide if you want to read that book or not. What is a good way to decide is to talk to someone that has already read the book. Since you mostly read your textbooks and reading books its hard to find that great book that you want to read outside of school. Well, we are going to bring you a great new tool to use in your next book hunting adventure. Several of the library studies students will be reviewing books that they have read themselves and writing their own opinions about the book. If they don’t like it, then they will tell you. If they love it, then they will definitely tell you! So click on a link below to find out what new book is waiting for you!

HISTORICAL FICTION
Our Only May Amelia by Jennifer L. Holm Call Number: FIC HOL
I read this book and thought that it was interesting to see how different May Amelia’s life was compared to what I do today. Her life as the only girl was horrible at times but she did what she wanted to at certain points. I didn’t like the one sad part but I guess that could actually happen. Overall, I enjoyed the book. It was weird to think about how people lived far away from everyone else.

SCIENCE FICTION
Double Identity by Margaret Peterson Haddix Call Number: FIC HAD
This book sort of creeped me out. I kept thinking that I knew what was going on but I was completely surprised at the end how and what really happened. It was a little hard to understand all the science possibilities but hopefully nothing like what happened in this book will ever happen in real life.

MYSTERIES
The Sisters Grimm by Michael Buckley Call Number: FIC BUC
I really liked this book. I read it in one sitting and thought that it was neat to think of the idea of all the fairy tales being true. The magic mirror is definitely one of my favorite characters in this book. He cracks me up with his ideas. One character I am still not sure I like yet or not is the Mayor Charming. He seems wishy-washy to me but since I already want to read the second one, I guess I’ll find out if he gets any better.

SCHOOL STORIES
A Week in the Woods by Andrew Clements Call Number: FIC CLE
Wow, if MACS ever decides to do a week in the woods, I’m glad that I read this book first. I didn’t like how the teacher seemed to judge him before he even knew him. I thought that was really unfair and I thought that I wouldn’t like that teacher much if I had him. I did like how the book ended. I made me want to go camping all over again.

SPORTS
I know, I know, I should read more books but I can’t seem to stay away from the science fiction/fantasy section. So once again, will some brave student submit a review so that we can have a book review for an excellent sports book. Who knows, if it sounds good, then maybe I will pick it up. |

SURPRISE ME!!
The Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan Call Number: FIC RIO
This book is actually the second book in the series. I really liked the first and thought I would check out the second one. I’m glad I did since I really enjoyed this one. The characters are still the same from the first one so that meant I had an idea of what to expect from each of them. Of course there is always trouble brewing when dealing with gods, goddesses, and demigods so it was business as usual for Percy and his friends.
